This year the Iowa State Fair is August 12th - 22nd. Once again the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, the Central Iowa Society for Human Resource Management, and Friends of Iowa Civil Rights Inc., will have a civil rights and diversity outreach booth, located in the Varied Industries Building. Here are three ways to get involved with the booth at the 2010 Iowa State Fair.

• Volunteer for a three-hour shift at the booth
• Make a financial contribution to support the booth
• Stop by and bring your friends to take the civil rights history quiz

The Iowa Civil Rights Commission booth will be located in the Varied Industries Building. Volunteers are requested for August 12th - 22rd for 3 hours shifts. The shifts will run from 9:00AM - 12:00PM, 12:00PM - 3:00PM, 3:00PM - 6:00PM, and 6:00PM - 9:00PM. We also need some on-call volunteers in case people call in sick or an emergency arises. All volunteers will receive free admittance to the fair and an ICRC t-shirt. Shirts are available in sizes S, M, L, XL, 2XL, and 3XL.

You will receive an email confirming your volunteer time.  As the fair approaches, you will receive an email detailing how to pick up your volunteer packet, t-shirt and ticket. Thank YOU!

There are two ways that you can make a financial contribution. The first is to send a check payable to Friends of Iowa Civil Rights, Inc, the fiscal agency for the booth. The check can be mailed to the Iowa Civil Rights Commission, Grimes State Office Building, 400 E. 14th St., Des Moines, IA 50319. The second option for those who prefer online donations is to go to the Support the Iowa Civil Rights Commission State Fair Booth Causes page on Facebook.
