Editorial: Myths about immigration

Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, the winter solstice or simply the end of the year, this time of year takes on a special character. It's generally a time to gather with friends to share our mutual humanity and to reflect on what this past year has been like and to look forward to the future with new hope, promise and determination. We Christians tend to get nostalgic at Christmas time. And even the general public gets caught up in the bit of extra cheer and good will during the holiday season. Yet, the Christian scriptures reveal that the child Jesus in the manger we Christians so tenderly contemplate is destined for much suffering.
